Cannabis—as an industry, a lifestyle, a drug, as medicine—has a serious race problem. Even a common name for the plant, marijuana, is racist. Rather than having me tell you all about it, I thought I’d invite Black people who work in various aspects of the cannabis industry to share their own experiences instead. After that, we will also hear the stories of other Black people in cannabis who aren’t able to share directly because they are incarcerated for nonviolent cannabis offenses.
