question about cannabis appellations: many cannabis growers use an engineered soil that's not necessarily unique to where they grow - how is this taken into account?
This is such a good question. I may not have the most detailed answer you are looking for, but I can say that there are provisions that favor and require certain farming types like biodynamic, etc, which would of course require certain soil inputs and mixes that are natural and endemic to the region. But I'm going to ask one of my sources and see if I can't get a better answer.

Another great read!!
Great email this week! I too LOVE LOVE LOVE Xula - nothing short of miraculous!
While "rules are rules" mentality is beloved in this country, our society would be a better & more enjoyable one if we treated people with kindness at hard points in life. I feel for Sha'Carri and Brianna McNeal (another stupid rule). https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/01/sports/olympics/abortion-doping-olympics-mcneal.html
Amen. Thanks for the feedback...and I am SO GLAD you love Xula, too! I was literally floored when using it. My cramps actually went away.
